Crawfish

A Crawfish is a small crustacean that is found all over United States in various riparian habitats and hundreds of different species. But the Crawfish that this specific information is for is in regards to the farmed species of Crawfish, that is red swamp crawfish or the white river Crawfish. These crawfish are primarily found in the streams or bayous of the deep south in the USA. The intelligence of a crawfish is a bit more there than that of a cricket, as it can learn when feeding time will be based on repeated interaction with the same human. The emotional intelligence of a Crawfish is unsurprisingly lacking, though crawfish can display noiception response, but so can Amoeba. A crawfish is an omnivore, which will eat plants, snails, insect larva, and waterfleas. The crawfish will also eat other crawfish, the parents will even eat their own offspring. The crawfish have hard exoskeleton as well as signature set of mini pinchers. The crawfish has many predators other crawfish, wading birds, catfish, bass, raccoons, mink and Humans. The pro/cons list is looking at ethics of crawfish farming.

Pros
+ The crawfish are stocked in ponds that could be wetland restoration for area
+ The Crawfish are caught in a mesh wiring crawfish trap that they willingly go to the bait, thus little habitat disturbance
+ The Crawfish pond typically fosters other more intelligent natural wildlife
+ The ponds are managed as to minimize humanmade pollution
+ Also to prevent algal blooms from occurring
+ If not farmed with rice, the crawfish farmers feed them pellets once a day
+ Manage effectively in drought like conditions
+ Great density native grasses planted for food in the winter for the crawfish
+ Mitigation plans for salwater flowing into the crawfish ponds
Cons
- Getting dual farmed with rice
